How do I know if therapy is right for me?

If you're asking the question, it probably is. Therapy isn't just for crisis—it's for anyone who wants clarity, growth, or relief. If something feels heavy, stuck, or off, that's reason enough.

What's the difference between a consultation and a first session?

The consultation is a quick, free 15-minute phone call. We chat about what's going on and see if we click. No pressure, no forms. If it feels right, we schedule the first full session—that's where the real work begins.

Do you take insurance?

I'm an out-of-network provider, which means I don't bill insurance directly. However, if you have a PPO plan, you can likely get reimbursed for a portion of our sessions. I provide a monthly superbill that you submit to your insurance. This approach also means I don't have to assign you a diagnosis or share our session notes with your insurance company.

How long will I need to be in therapy?

There's no one-size-fits-all answer. Some people find what they need in 8-12 sessions. Others prefer ongoing support for months or longer. We'll check in regularly about what's working and adjust as you grow.

What if I've tried therapy before and it didn't work?

That's more common than you think. Therapy is deeply personal—if the fit wasn't right, the approach didn't land, or the timing was off, it doesn't mean therapy doesn't work. It means you hadn't found your therapist yet. Let's talk about what didn't work so we can do it differently.

Is everything I say confidential?

Yes. What you share stays between us, with rare exceptions: if there's an immediate risk of harm to yourself or others, or if there's suspected abuse of a child or vulnerable adult. Otherwise, your sessions are entirely private.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule?

Life happens. I just ask for 24 hours' notice so I can offer that time to another client. If you need to cancel last-minute due to an emergency, we'll work it out.
